If yesterday’s reveal showcased a battle-ready Diana Prince clutching onto God Killer, the powerful blade stowed away deep within the bowels of Themyscira, Entertainment Weekly has today shifted the focus to a more quaint moment in Patty Jenkins’ solo Wonder Woman movie.
Embedded below, the picture finds Gal Gadot’s warrior princess in party attire and judging by her stern expression, Diana isn’t there to simply partake in the celebrations. Word is that Wonder Woman is actually tracking Danny Huston’s mystery villain, and it’s safe to assume that that aforementioned God Killer weapon will come in fairly handy during the mission. After extracting the blade from Themyscira – much to the dismay of Connie Nielsen’s Queen Hippolyta – we know that Jenkins’ origin story will involve Diana making tracks for Europe during the throes of World War I, where she hopes to save humanity from itself.
Due to arrive in June, Wonder Woman will herald the first of two films for DC’s iconic hero in 2017, who will also be rubbing shoulders with the remaining members of Justice League come November. She won’t be the only cast member from WW to feature, mind you, after it was confirmed just yesterday that Connie Nielsen will reprise as Queen Hippolyta.
Wonder Woman graces theatres on June 2, 2017. To tide you over, you’ll be able to take a closer look at Gal Gadot’s heroine dressed up to the nines down below.
Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
