The twists and turns continue in the ongoing assault cause involving Marvel star Jonathan Majors, with the actor’s lawyer once again claiming that he is not only innocent but that his alleged victim is guilty of assault herself.
In fact, Majors’ lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, claims that two separate precincts within the New York Police Department have found “probable cause to arrest” Majors’ ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari, according to Newsweek.
Majors faces an August 3 court date for Jabbari’s allegations against him, which include “two counts of assault in the third degree, aggravated harassment, and attempted assault against a woman,” the report said.
By contrast, Majors is claiming that it was actually him who was assaulted by Jabbari, including scratching and slapping his face on a street corner, leading to pain. Chaudhry even claimed she and Majors brought evidence for this assault to NYPD last week. As Chaudhry explained:
“Within hours of viewing the evidence, and conducting their own thorough investigation, the NYPD found probable cause to arrest Grace Jabbari for assaulting Jonathan Majors […] Considering this development, we extend our gratitude to the NYPD detectives for their efforts.”
Newseek said they reached out to both the NYPD and Jabbari, but neither replied to corroborate or deny Majors’ claims.
The assault claims from both parties stem from an incident on March 25. Although the case has yet to complete its run through the legal system, Majors has previously appeared in court on two separate occasions in relation to the charges. Newsweek says Majors gave a statement to the Chinatown NYPD precinct on June 21.
Chaudhry has previously maintained Majors’ innocence to the point that she predicted the district attorney will throw out the charges based on evidence she provided them, but the case ended up proceeding to court anyway. It remains to be seen if this latest development will have an impact on the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star’s ability to get Hollywood roles in the future, and perhaps most pressingly, continue on as Marvel’s next big bad.
