Learn The Ways In Which Power Corrupts In The Huntsman Winter’s War Featurette

Whisking moviegoers to a time long before Kristen Stewart’s Snow White walked the lands of the Kingdom of Tabor, Universal has pumped out a new featurette for The Huntsman Winter’s War, shedding light on Charlize Theron’s opulent ruler Queen Ravenna and her malicious ways.

Ruling over Tabor from her shimmering gold throne, Theron’s power-mongering antagonist tees up an old-school fantasy clash when, after severing ties with her capricious sister Freya (played with scenery-chewing menace by Emily Blunt), she opts to wage war on her disillusioned younger sister.

As the Mad Max: Fury Road star outlines in the clip above, Ravenna lives and dies by the power in her hands – it’s the air she breaths, the blood coursing through her ancient veins. Hoping to put paid to those plans of eternal rule are huntsmen Eric (Chris Hemsworth) and Sara (Jessica Chastain). But will they be able to turn the tide of battle before Ravenna and Freya’s conflict brings ruination to all of Tabor? We’ll find out in little under a month’s time.

Cedric Nicolas-Troyan’s fantasy prequel, The Huntsman Winter’s War marches all the way into theaters on April 22. A new international poster uniting the film’s starry quartet can be glimpsed below.

Discover the story that came before Snow White in The Huntsman: Winter’s War. Chris Hemsworth and Oscar winner Charlize Theron return to their roles from Snow White and the Huntsman, joined by Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain. Theron stars as evil Queen Ravenna, who betrays her good sister Freya (Blunt) with an unforgivable act, freezing Freya’s heart to love and unleashing in her an icy power she never knew she possessed. Retreating to a kingdom far to the north, Freya raises an army of Huntsmen as her protectors, with the only rule that no two of them should ever fall in love.

As a war for domination escalates between the two queens, the hero standing between them is Freya’s most elite Huntsman, Eric (Hemsworth). Alongside fellow warrior Sara (Chastain)—the only woman who has ever captured his heart—Eric must help Freya vanquish her sister…or Ravenna’s wickedness will rule for eternity.
