The first instalment in the horror-comedy series since 2014’s widely rejected Leprechaun: Origins, this Steven Kostanski-helmed film will be taking the carnage to Alpha Upsilon house, where the sorority sisters thought it would be a good idea to use a nearby well as an environmentally friendly source of water. In the process of going green, however, they unwittingly awaken the Irish monster, who starts with the killing once more.

It sounds like a rather old-school horror setup, but with a new face in the main role. Stepping into the well-shined shoes once filled by Warwick Davis (and briefly, Dylan “Hornswoggle” Postl) will be Linden Porco, who explained earlier this year that he didn’t feel a strong need to recreate the performance that Davis brought to the first six films, telling Slasher Radio Podcast, “I think everything in this movie is my own.”

This new spin may take some getting used to for longtime fans, but if you’re looking for a familiar face, you’ll find it in the surprising return of Mark Holton, with the Pee-wee’s Big Adventure star reprising his role as Ozzie Jones for the first time since the original 1993 Leprechaun. It’s no Laurie Strode coming back for Halloween, but we’ll take it.

Anyway, the franchise’s eighth installment is headed for home release, and it will be packing the following features:

  • “Going Green – An Interview with Director Steven Kostanski” Featurette

  • BTS Footage Compilation

If you’re down for another round of unusually quirky killings, Leprechaun Returns comes to Digital on December 11th.
