Liam McIntyre Wants To Be The Next Batman

Now that the team-up film for Superman and Batman has been announced (potentially titled Batman vs. Superman), the Bat-signal is shining against the clouds, just waiting for the perfect actor to answer the call. Almost everyone would love to be the Dark Knight, so plenty of actors are going to want the role, but Liam McIntyre may be the first to make his desire public.

McIntyre, best known for his role on Spartacus: War Of The Damned, wasted no time at all posting about how he wants to play the Caped Crusader. He took to his Twitter account last night and posted a series of Tweets about the new movies.

Now, there’s likely going to be an outpouring of support by McIntyre’s fans for him to play the role. In fact, it’s already begun in the Tweet responses to those posts above. Personally, McIntyre isn’t one of the names that leapt out at me when the project was announced, but I could definitely see him nailing the role. He has a very commanding presence and a naturally deep voice, both of which are very important for the character. He’d have to beef up a bit, but Henry Cavill had no trouble accomplishing that.

While I think McIntyre would make an excellent Batman, I’m a bit hesitant about him as Bruce Wayne. His work on Spartacus gives a fairly good picture of what he could do as Batman, but there’s very little in his filmography to show he’d be as good of a Bruce Wayne. Then again, few actors seem like they’d be absolutely perfect as both Batman and Bruce, so who am I to say that McIntyre couldn’t be very believable as a billionaire playboy?

If you have an opinion on whether McIntyre would be great for the role, share it with us in the comments section below. And be sure to check out our list of 10 actors who could play the next Dark Knight.

For the record, I too would like to be Batman. Just tossing my hat in the ring here.
