Starring Lily Collins and Sam Claflin, the film follows a couple who have been best friends since they were five. Charting their experiences as they grow up and apart, Love, Rosie, will examine their missed opportunity for love and whether or not this type of recycled plot has the chance to form some sort of dramatic tension.

It might come across as cynical, but this sounds like a retread of the Anne Hathaway tearjerker, One Day. And about a million other rom-drams. Nevertheless, the trailer looks to be showcasing its more-than-competent leads Collins and Claflin as they steer through a series of predictable set-ups.

Directed by Christian Ditter and adapted by Juliette Towhidi from the book by Cecelia Ahern, Love, Rosie lands in select theatres, On Demand and Digital HD February 6.

Since the moment they met at age 5, Rosie (Lily Collins) and Alex (Sam Claflin) have been best friends, facing the highs and lows of growing up side by side. A fleeting shared moment, one missed opportunity, and the decisions that follow send their lives in completely different directions. As each navigates the complexities of life, love, and everything in between, they always find their way back to each other – but is it just friendship, or something more? Based on Cecelia Ahern’s bestselling novel, LOVE, ROSIE is a heart-warming, modern comedy-of-errors posing the ultimate question: do we really only get one shot at true love?
