Louis Leterrier Not Yet Confirmed To Direct Now You See Me 2

A report has been floating around the web that Louis Leterrier will be directing Now You See Me 2, the sequel to his enormously fun magician thriller that hit theaters in the spring. It seems that everyone may have jumped the gun though as I spoke to Leterrier yesterday and asked about his involvement with the sequel. He said that while he is indeed interested in returning for it, he still doesn't know if he'll be able to direct the film and may only serve as a producer on it.

He said that while he is indeed interested in returning for it, he still doesn’t know if he’ll be able to direct the film and may only serve as a producer on it.

Check out what Leterrier had to say below.

I am involved. Depending on my schedule, I don’t know if I’ll be able to direct it. I’m very involved in coming up with the story, coming up with the script. So worst case scenario I’ll be coming up with the story and producing the movie, if I’m not available. If I’m available I’ll totally direct it.

See? Not confirmed to be directing, but also not ruling out the possibility. Personally, I would love to see him be able to get back in the director’s chair, as almost everything he did with the first film was excellent. Despite not being totally adored by critics, the film was still quite entertaining, so hopefully Lionsgate is willing to schedule the movie at a time when Leterrier is definitely free.

The rest of my interview with Leterrier has a bunch of cool insight on the filming process and some misconceptions people have had about the film. That’ll be online this weekend, so be sure to check back for it then!
