The Boba Fett Movie May Include Alden Ehrenreich’s Han Solo

One of Alden Ehrenreich's three Star Wars movies may involve a cameo appearance in James Mangold's Boba Fett, which is said to be on ice at Lucasfilm.

Remember when Alden Ehrenreich let slip that he had actually signed on for three Star Wars movies? Well, we may have identified the next film to follow Solo.

Its name? Boba Fett, the tentative title given to James Mangold’s Anthology pic. Production isn’t likely to begin until 2020, but when Mangold and his team are ready to visit that famous galaxy far, far away, they may be bringing Alden Ehrenreich’s smuggler along for the ride.

That’s according to author Daniel Keys Moran, who revealed that Disney and Lucasfilm have expressed interest in adapting his short story, The Last One Standing, which just so happens to find Boba Fett crossing paths with the great Han Solo. Alas, Moran is no longer sure if James Mangold’s spinoff is a sure thing.

I’ve had a guy at Disney email me a couple times over the years regarding Lucasfilm adapting ‘Last One Standing’ into a Fett movie. Not asking permission, they own those works, just letting me know they were thinking about it. So that was kind. But after Solo stiffed, apparently there’s some question about the Fett movie being made.

Word is Boba Fett: A Star Wars Story (title pending) won’t be a one-to-one adaptation of The Last One Standing, as Moran’s story is rooted in the Legends universe and is therefore not considered part of Disney’s canon. Nevertheless, Solo is living proof that this new era of Star Wars movies still has the potential to draw inspiration from Legends and everything that has come before.

Next up for Lucasfilm’s crown jewel is the launch of Star Wars: Episode IX in 2019, before those long-gestating spinoffs for Obi-Wan and Boba Fett begin to set the wheels in motion. As for Boba Fett, we’ll be sure to bring you more on the project as soon as any further updates arise.
