With The Avengers out the door and out of the way, Marvel is getting to work on two of their other big projects, Thor 2 and Iron Man 3. Both films have been heating up recently and today, the studio has added one more name to Thor 2 and two names to Iron Man 3.
Variety is reporting that Mads Mikkelsen, best known for his role as the villain in Casino Royale, will join Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in Thor 2 as the second villain.
No details yet on who his character is but his involvement is still very exciting. If you’ve seen Valhalla Rising you’ll know why I’m looking forward to seeing Mikkelsen in Thor 2. He’s an excellent actor and he’ll make for a great villain.
That’s not all though, Variety goes on to report that Ashley Hamilton, from Dancing with the Stars, has been cast in Iron Man 3 as a villain. He’s set to play the government cyborg Firepower, a “pilot of an experimental armored suit under the secret mission dubbed Project: Firepower.”
And, last but not least, Jon Favreau, director of the first two Iron Man films, will return as Happy Hogan, his character from the first two films.
Out of all the announcements here, I’m most excited about Mikkelsen’s involvement. That being said, it will also be nice to see Favreau show up in Iron Man 3, for obvious reasons.
What about you? Who are you looking forward to seeing?
