Now that we’ve seen the first teaser trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past, the promotional campaign is starting to kick into gear. Though it will likely be a while before we can get our hands on more footage from the film, we can expect to see photos and posters in the coming month, starting with this new shot that was released today.

Featuring Michael Fassbender as Magento, we get a glimpse at the character’s new armour, which looks pretty badass. He appears to be standing in front of a recently blown up building (or is it a ship?) and looking out into the distance at something. What could it be? Your guess is as good as ours but it’s an enticing photo and one that certainly piques our interest.

The Bryan Singer directed film has a script from Matthew Vaughn and Simon Kinberg and reunites both the cast from the original X-Men trilogy as well as the cast from Vaughn’s reboot. That means you’ll be seeing actors like Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart Ian McKellan, Halle Berry and more teaming up with the aforementioned Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult, among others.

From what we know about the plot, our titular heroes are in danger due to a mistake made in the past and so their fearless leader, Wolverine, is sent back in time to correct the course of history and prevent the gang from experiencing a dark and terrifying future.

Set to release on May 23rd, 2014,  X-Men: Days of Future Past has a lot to live up to, given how well Vaughn’s entry into the series did. From everything we’ve seen though, it looks like Singer has a hit on his hands. Juggling so many characters in one film might be tough but if they’re able to make it work, then we might be in for another great X-Men film.
