Major Death Scene In Star Wars: The Force Awakens Revealed; J.J. Abrams Confirms Rumors

Between now and the end of the year, expect there to be a plethora - a tidal wave, if you will - of rumored tidbits concerning Star Wars: The Force Awakens. And today, the raft of chatter and speculation orbiting J.J. Abrams' sci-fi sequel amps up further, with the reveal of two major sequences that are set to appear in the film.

As the movie is gearing up for its release this December, the likelihood of keeping a lid on specifics concerning the story will no doubt be a challenge. And sure enough, along with that last leak, there’s been a whole host of alleged insider info ranging from detailed descriptions of character motivations, down to simple prop changes. However, nothing can prepare you for the most spoilery of all spoilers that Making Star Wars dropped yesterday regarding one particular sequence:

  • This sequence takes place on the ramparts of The Evil Castle.
  • Han Solo is hiding.
  • He decides to reveal himself to Kylo Renn.
  • Finn, Rey, Chewbacca and BB-8 stop in their tracks.
  • They watch as Han Solo confronts Kylo Ren.
  • Kylo Ren silences the conversation forever.
  • Chewbacca lets out of a barrage of angry roars and laser blasts.
  • Kylo Ren flees the scene.
  • Explosions.
  • Stormtroopers file in and Finn and Rey are forced to flee.
  • More explosions.
  • BB-8 and Chewbacca flee to the Falcon.
  • Han Solo is never in a scene after this. Those are the facts.

In all likelihood, this could be exactly what we suspect it is: just a rumor. Or is it?

Abrams himself spoke out last night during the Irish Oscar Wilde Awards in Los Angeles and when the BBC (via /Film) confronted him about the deluge of Star Wars spoilers currently hitting the web, here’s what he had to say:

There are a ton of rumors – some true, some false. But I’m grateful for everyone who would want to read a spoiler because it means that they care and want to see the movie. I know what it feels like, as an enormous Star Wars fan myself.

For a spokesman of the movie, it’s not unexpected for the co-writer and helmer to offer up such a diplomatic response. The chance of him corroborating a specific rumor is of course, minute, but it’s still worthwhile to note that there is information floating around that’s the absolute truth. What do you think that could be: Han Solo’s grisly end, or the new opening sequence?

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in theaters December 18, 2015.
