Even though Justice League is now less than two months away, we still know very little about Superman’s role in the movie. While it’s the worst kept secret in the world that the Man of Steel will return from the dead at some point, fans have a lot of questions about what’ll happen once he does. One of the oldest theories goes that the Big Blue Boy Scout will initially turn evil and fight his former allies.
It seems that this idea has been right on the money all along, too, as it’s now been confirmed by both the film’s composer, Danny Elfman, and by some merchandise which surfaced earlier today. Of course, we still don’t know exactly why he’s gone bad – is he suffering from amnesia after his resurrection, or is he the victim of mind control, probably at the hands of Steppenwolf? – but whatever the reason, this will no doubt mark the darkest moment for the League, as their most powerful member turns against them.
It’s sure to be a great scene in the film, when Supes finally makes his triumphant return with a new costume to boot, but we’ll likely have to wait until we’re in theaters to actually get a look at the black suit. While that’s slightly disappointing, fan artist Boss Logic has stepped in to whet our appetite, teasing what the Man of Steel could possibly look like in his new threads.
Check it out in the gallery down below, along with a few other fan mock-ups that’ve surfaced recently, and let us know what you think.
Badass, right? Obviously, there’s nothing to say that the hero will look anything like this on the big screen, but it’s another stellar design from Boss Logic and has us that much more eager to finally see the hugely anticipated pic next month.
Thankfully, there’s not too long to go now, as Justice League will be with us on November 17th. Word is that Warner’s long-brewing ensemble pic features not one, but two post-credits scenes, so it’d be wise to stick around after the screen goes black. Besides, with so many DC-related tentpoles cramming up the pipeline, there’s a very good chance the Powers That Be will take the opportunity to tee up Shazam! and/or Suicide Squad 2, both of which are said to be targeting 2019.
