Just take this recent tweet, in which the Luke Skywalker actor argues that the official title of Episode IX was unveiled a long time ago from an unlikely source:

“Disappointed there was no #StarWars trailer shown during the #SuperBowl? Agonizing over how long you’ll have to wait until they drop the title? RELAX nerds! #Futurama predicted it years ago & we all know: Cartoons. Never. Lie. EXCLUSIVE BREAKING ‘NEWS’: #EpIXYodasBarMitzvah”

The message came with a shot from an episode of Futurama where the name “Star Wars 9 — Yoda’s Bar Mitzvah” can be seen on a movie theater. Hamill also shared a few images of Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi that expanded on this theme.

“Yoda’s Bar Mitzvah” is the latest of several fake Episode IX titles that Hamill has suggested in recent months, with previous examples being “Star Wars: Episode IX – A Bunch More Stuff Happens” and “Star Wars: Episode IX – Thank U, Next,” the latter of which is presumably a reference to Hamill’s ongoing Twitter friendship with Ariana Grande. On top of that, the actor has also teased the arrival of an Episode IX trailer on more than one occasion, only to post photos of storage trailers.

But while most fans have worked out by now that Hamill’s Twitter account is the last place you want to go to for Episode IX info, the question remains of when exactly a title drop or a teaser might come our way. Though the official title of The Last Jedi was announced on January 23rd on the year of its release, Disney is evidently on a different schedule for the promotion of the sequel.

As for the teaser, it’s generally expected that the first full trailer will premiere at the Star Wars Celebration in April, though that’s not to say that these next few months will necessarily be a complete dry spell. Regardless, we’ll find out if Star Wars: Episode IX is worth all the hype when the film hits theaters on December 20th, 2019.
