Looks like David O. Russell and Mark Wahlberg are teaming up yet again. This time it’s for the movie Uncharted, based off the hit PS3 game of the same name. Russell and Wahlberg always make a great team and their upcoming film, The Fighter, is generating a lot of positive buzz, so their decision to team up for Uncharted is definitely a good one.
Wahlberg recently spoke about the film and said the following:
”David is one of the best writer/directors I’ve ever worked with,” the actor says. “The idea that he has [for Uncharted] is just insane. So hopefully we’ll be making that movie this summer.”
He then addressed the rumors of Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro joining the film:
That’s who he wants to write the parts for. I talked to Pesci about it and I know David’s people have talked to [Robert De Niro]… I’m obviously in whatever David wants to do but the idea of it is so off the charts: De Niro being my father, Pesci being my uncle. It’s not going to be the watered-down version, that’s for sure.
So, what we have here is a film based off the video game Uncharted, with David O. Russell behind the camera and Mark Wahlberg in front, with the possibility of having a Goodfellas reunion by adding Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci. Sounds crazy but it’s something I’d definitely be interested in. Not sure how closely they’ll stick to the videogame, but I know that Uncharted was very well received and it’s one of the top PS3 games. Having never played it, I can’t comment on the story and characters of it, but I do know that Wahlberg and David O. Russell are a great duo and as of now, this is one film I’m looking forward to.
