Mark Zuckerberg: Is He Scared?

On September 24, 2010 Mark Zuckerberg announced that he would be donating 100 million dollars to the Neward Public School system. Also this week, The Social Network, a David Fincher film originally based on the novel, The Accidental Billionaires by Ben Mezrich, will be released in theatres. Could this be a coincidence? I think not.

What is he hiding?

The timing of this comes at the same time as The Social Network is hitting theaters, the story of how Facebook came to be, as told by Zuckerberg’s former best friend Eduordo Saverin. The movie sheds a different light on the story of Facebook, portraying Zuckerberg as selfish, uncaring and in some instances almost insane.

Since the announcement that the original novel The Accidental Billionaires would be turned into a full length feature Hollywood film, Zuckerberg has been actively attempting to get the movie shut down.

It appears as though Zuckerberg is not entirely content with what information about himself as well as Facebook will be shown in the film.  His solution; going on the offensive, attempting to make a positive splash for himself in the media.

The film, The Social Network opens this Friday and is sure to be 2 hours well spent.

What will be the outcome of this film? Will it hurt Facebook’s status within society in any way? I think not. Regardless of what is seen in the film, Facebook has become an integral part of the 500 million plus users lives and will not be going anywhere anytime soon.
