Martin Scorsese is a busy man. The director will be working on two projects after he gets finished with the editing process for Hugo Cabret. His first project will be a Jesuit priest drama called Silence, reports The Playlist.
The blog reports that Daniel Day-Lewis, Benicio Del Toro and Gael Garcia Bernal have all previously been set to star in the film but their current status remains ambiguous. But what is known is that this will be Scorsese’s next film. Jay Cocks will write the script for the adaptation of Shusaku Endo’s book of the same name.

Young Portuguese Jesuit, Sebastião Rodrigues (based on the historical figure Giuseppe Chiara) is sent to Japan to succor the local Church and investigate reports that his mentor, Fr. Cristóvão Ferreira, has committed apostasy. (Ferreira is a historical figure, who apostatized after torture and later became a Zen Buddhist monk and wrote a treatise against Christianity.)
After Silence is done, Scorsese will move on to an indie project that would reunite him with Leonardo DiCaprio. Vulture is reporting that Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio could be reuniting for an indie film adaptation of Jordan Belfort’s 2008 memoir “The Wolf of Wall Street.” Originally DiCaprio was suppose to work with Ridley Scott for this project but apparently DiCaprio’s manager was able to secure independent financing for the project and will now shoot the flick sans-studio.
