When the Avengers assemble for the sequel, they will be joined by at least one or two new members, at least according to Marvel co-chairman Louis D’Esposito.
Phase 2 of Marvel’s cinematic universe is firmly underway. With Iron Man 3 soon to wrap filming, and Thor: The Dark World still shooting, attention is starting to turn to the company’s big future money-maker, The Avengers 2.
Recently, D’Esposito teased that they’re looking to bring in new allies for Captain American, Iron Man, Thor, and the rest of the superhero group. Check out what he had to say below:
“I think in ‘The Avengers 2’ we’ll see some new characters,” he said. “We’re currently working on Phase 2 and we have ‘Iron Man 3,’ ‘Thor: The Dark World’ and ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier,’ so we returned to those franchises to enlarge them, but I think in ‘The Avengers 2’ will see one or two new characters.”
The Avengers comics certainly offers up a healthy stable of heroes for the cinematic universe to pull from and I imagine with the impending Ant-Man film, that character would be no-brainer to bring into the massive team-up movie. But who else can the studio add into the mix? Maybe Luke Cage, The Wasp, or even Ms. Marvel?
