UPDATE: THR has confirmed that Cooper is indeed in talks with Marvel for the role.
Though filming is already underway, Guardians of the Galaxy is still missing an actor to voice Rocket Raccoon. Many names have been tossed around in relation to the role but today, Latino-Review is telling us that the actor that Marvel has their eye on is Bradley Cooper. In fact, they’ve already made the offer and are now just waiting for him to accept.
In the past, Latino-Review has been pretty reliable with their Marvel scoops so I do tend to believe them on this one, as unlikely as it may sound. There’s no word yet on if Cooper will take the role or not but apparently the offer is there.
With a cast that already includes names like Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, John C. Reilly, Benicio Del Toro and more, Guardians of the Galaxy is putting together quite the ensemble and if Cooper should join, it will certainly help the film draw in an even larger crowd.
Given that these heroes aren’t the most popular or well known in the Marvel universe, it’s not hard to see why the studio is trying to bring in all the big names that they can get for this one. Most moviegoers are probably unfamiliar with the Guardians of the Galaxy, or at least were unfamiliar with them before the film was announced. They’re not like Iron Man or Captain America, two very well known heroes. The Guardians of the Galaxy have a much smaller fanbase and for Marvel to really sell the film, they need some heavy hitting names in the cast.
Guardians of the Galaxy arrives in theatres on August 1st, 2014. We’ll keep you posted when we hear more on this but for now, tell us, do you want to see Bradley Cooper voice Rocket Raccoon? Let us know in the comments section below.
