Marvel Reissues Avengers: Endgame Poster After Leaving Out Danai Gurira

For all of the hype and excitement generated by the Avengers: Endgame trailer, Marvel has been forced to reissue the film's poster.

Okoye in Black Panther

As proud leader of the Dora Milaje and T’Challa’s right-hand commander, Okoye is a force to be reckoned with.

She was undoubtedly one of the breakout stars from Marvel’s Black Panther, which makes this morning’s gaffe all the more glaring. In case you missed it, the official Avengers: Endgame poster didn’t credit actress Danai Gurira in the top billing, prompting outrage and widespread confusion across the four corners of the Internet.

To their credit, Marvel rectified the situation almost immediately, and reissued the Endgame poster with Gurira’s name on the masthead – where it should have been all along. It may be a small change, but it speaks volumes to many Okoye fans.

Via Twitter:

Of course, we know Okoye was among the few surviving heroes left standing after the Decimation of Avengers: Infinity War, and we imagine she’s on the quest for revenge after watching T’Challa evaporate before her very eyes. It’s an emotion she likely shares with most, if not all, members of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, who can be seen mounting the world’s greatest counter-attack in this morning’s epic trailer for Avengers: Endgame.

It’s arguably the film’s biggest reveal thus far, and yet it still feels as though Joe and Anthony Russo – not to mention the Powers That Be at Marvel Studios – are playing this one incredibly close to the chest. And those group shots of the Avengers marching in slow-motion? Don’t trust them, as the Russo Brothers tend to incorporate trailer misdirects to throw everyone off the scent.

Avengers: Endgame graces theaters on April 26th. So whatever it takes, make sure you see this one on the big screen before Marvel Studios brings the curtain down on Phase 3.
