There’s a big reunion that Marvel fans are waiting to see in Avengers: Endgame: the reconciliation between Iron Man and Captain America. The latest trailer which arrived today still didn’t deliver that but, in its place, we got another emotional reunion between two super-friends that we didn’t know would hit us so hard.

We’re talking about Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton, those two old S.H.I.E.L.D. buddies whose friendship predates their adventures in the MCU. There were two scenes in the new trailer that made it clear how much they care for each other and are there for their friend in this dark time. And fans certainly did not cope well with the heartbreak they caused.

That being said, there some who were overjoyed that Endgame seems to be putting more emphasis on Clint and Natasha’s relationship instead of the controversial Natasha/Bruce romance from Avengers: Age of Ultron.

The trailer also reminded fans how under-appreciated the friendship between Black Widow and Hawkeye is, with some even comparing it to one of the most fan favorite friendships in the franchise.

One fan noticed that seeing the duo comforting the other in the Endgame trailer provides a stark contrast with how Natasha dismissed that she truly cared for Clint back in The AvengersSorry Romanoff, you can’t hide it from us.

Clint and Natasha were last seen together in Captain America: Civil War when they were forced to fight as they fell on different sides of the Sokovia Accords conflict. There was never any bad blood between them, though, especially as Nat ultimately defected to Cap’s side and Clint returned to cosy retirement at his farm. Now that Barton’s lost his family to the Snap, however, the old friends are back together to help fix the universe and stop Thanos.

But will both or either survive? Catch Avengers: Endgame in cinemas from April 26th to find out.
