Natalie Portman last turned up as Thor’s ex-girlfriend Jane Foster in 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, so it definitely came as a surprise when she appeared on the red carpet on Monday evening. Naturally, this caused fans to have a bit of meltdown, as they started theorizing that there must be a reason Portman was showing up for the premiere. Is Jane about to make a shock comeback for Endgame? Possibly, but until we find out for sure, here are some of the best reactions fans had on social media.

Most were overjoyed to see Portman, but for others, her appearance served as a reminder that Jane has been woefully underutilized in the series to date, with the role never being meaty enough for an actress of Portman’s talent. After all, Jane becomes Thor herself in the comics.

But hey, maybe Endgame will make up for all that. We’re all expecting Captain Marvel to be the secret ingredient in stopping the Mad Titan, but what if Jane Foster is actually the one to defeat Thanos?

So, is there a chance that Portman could appear in Endgame? Well, yeah, a pretty good one. The remaining heroes may well have use for the talented astrophysicist, as we know they’re going to traverse the Quantum Realm and, with Hank Pym turned to dust, Jane may be one of the few geniuses still around to help them. Otherwise, she may appear in one of the flashback sequences to past movies that we’re expecting to see once the gang goes back in time.

In any case, all will be revealed when Avengers: Endgame is unleashed upon the world in just a few days.
