Reddit user BatmanHimself has observed that when you look closely at Groot’s neck and chin, the tree-like hero has started to develop hair, or whatever his species’ equivalent of hair is. He even has a little goatee, which the fans have quickly come to call his “Grootee.” Just think, the guy might’ve sprouted a full-on beard if his teen years hadn’t been cut short by last year’s snap.

Of course, Groot has effectively died before only to be reborn, and it’s looking very likely that he’ll accomplish the same feat in this next film. After all, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is already on the way. In the meantime, if Dave Bautista’s statements from last year are anything to go by, then there’s a good chance that Groot and his Guardian friends will be showing up in Endgame. There’s even been a fair amount of speculation that the upcoming film will see Earth’s Mightiest Heroes travel back to around the time of the first Guardians movie, perhaps in order to obtain the Power Stone.

Regardless, we’ll see how Groot and his dusted peers return to the world of the living when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th. After that, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 could still be a few more years from release, so for all we know, Groot may have progressed into adulthood by then.
