Justice League notwithstanding, Marvel rocked San Diego Comic-Con a few months ago by unveiling the suitably epic first trailer for Avengers: Infinity War. However, unless you were one of the fortunate few in attendance in Hall H, you likely missed out, as that star-studded promo was quickly yanked off the interwebs – as expected.
Ever since, fans have been impatiently waiting for the House of Ideas to release an official version, and while the studio has kept mostly quiet on the matter, some persistent rumors popped up at the end of September, insisting that the preview would air with the premiere of Inhumans. Though never confirmed by Marvel, most took these reports as fact and when September 29th came and went without so much as a peep about Infinity War, the storm started to swirl again.
To date, we still don’t know exactly when to expect the trailer, but Marvel’s Louis D’Esposito took to Twitter this week to offer a brief, and somewhat disappointing update. Spoiler alert: don’t expect the preview to rear its head anytime soon.
All I can say is that I love it and I hope all you feel the same. It’s currently being finished so it’s not ready yet,” said D’Esposito.
So, there you have it. The trailer isn’t even finished yet, which means it’ll be some time before we get to lay eyes on it. Back in the summer, Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige hinted that we’d probably see it with Thor: Ragnarok, and at this point, that’s certainly looking like the most probable scenario. And in all honesty, that’s alright. The threequel is less than a month away and besides, we’ve got new trailers for Justice League and Star Wars: The Last Jedi to help tide us over.
Whether it drops with Ragnarok or not we’ll know quite soon, but what we can tell you with 100% certainty is that Avengers: Infinity War is booked in for release on May 4th, 2018, and to ensure you’re fully up to speed on Marvel’s epic crossover, we recently listed nine things you may not know about the film, its production, and what the Russo Brothers have in store.
