Okay, so maybe this is just a publicity stunt, but it definitely gives us an idea of the sort of vibe the Avengers: Infinity War sequel is going for, and again, it sounds like quite a few viewers appreciated the courtesy. Last month, Chris Evans even claimed that he “choked up like three times” just from watching the film’s first hour, and more recently, Karen Gillan advised fans to bring “tissues and diapers” into the cinema. As far we know though, no diapers were handed out at the premiere.

As for what exactly viewers might’ve been crying about, well, where do we start? The ending of Infinity War alone ensures that the sequel will begin on a heavy note. But while Earth’s Mightiest Heroes have a lot of fallen comrades to mourn, most fans are more nervous these days about the fate of the current survivors. Captain America and Iron Man in particular have been the subject of many a grim prediction, but even if both heroes live to see the end of Endgame, it’s generally assumed that this week’s release will serve as the final MCU outing for each of them.

In any case, you can judge for yourself if Avengers: Endgame warrants the supply of tissues when the film hits theaters on April 26th.
