Head of Marvel, Kevin Feige, spoke to The Playlist recently and revealed some interesting insights into the future of some of their comic book characters possibly making their way to the big screen. We’ve already seen Scarlett Johansson in the role of Black Widow in Iron Man and will see Jeremy Renner in action as Hawkeye in next summer’s The Avengers, but now Feige is talking about the possibility of these characters getting solo films.
A Black Widow film has been rumored before, but now it seems that those rumors have become active and have even turned into discussions with Johansson about what the movie could be.
Right now, Feige is focused on Marvel’s two upcoming releases, Thor and Captain America, but he says that towards the end of the summer the studio plans to announce what their next projects will be for, presumably, 2013 and 2014. Several characters have been mentioned – Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Ant-Man – but right now it is up to us to speculate who will hit the big screen next.
If I were to take a wild guess, though, I’d say that “Black Panther” could just be the next Marvel project as they’ve been playing around with the idea a lot recently, evening hiring Mark Bailey to write a script. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see. We’ll keep you posted.
