Marvel Planning To Bring Captain Britain Into The MCU In Phase 4

According to a source close to the studio, Marvel has plans to bring Captain Britain into the MCU at some point during Phase 4.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to go from strength to strength and Kevin Feige and his team will no doubt keep on raiding the back catalogue of the comics universe in hopes of finding more heroes they can turn into the next Iron Man or Black Panther. If they’re looking for another hit on the level of Captain America, though, they’d be wise to try their hand at adapting England’s very own counterpart to Steve Rogers – the aptly-named Captain Britain.

Indeed, the popular hero’s been rumored to be showing up in the MCU for a long time now, with everyone from Simon Pegg to Guy Ritchie finding themselves attached to a potential project starring the character. But to date, nothing’s materialized. Well, aside from that intriguing easter egg in Avengers: Endgame which referenced Brian Braddock, the man behind the Captain Britain mask.

It seems that easter egg was a hint at bigger things to come, though, as a source close to We Got This Covered has confirmed that Marvel does indeed have plans for the hero and he’s expected to make his MCU debut in Phase 4. Unfortunately, they weren’t sure whether he’d be getting his own movie or just a show on Disney Plus, but rest assured, Mr. Braddock is on his way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And if we had to guess, he’ll be appearing on the big screen first.

What’s particularly interesting about this is that there’ve been rumors linking Henry Cavill to the role in the past, and with the actor now free from his DCEU commitments, having given up the role of Superman, Marvel might be thinking of reeling him in for Captain Britain. That’d be a huge casting coup should they indeed snatch him up, but it’s best not to get too excited right now as it’s still far too early to say who’ll play the character.

In any case, just hearing that the Marvel Cinematic Universe will soon make way for Captain Britain is hugely exciting news and as soon as we learn more on when and where he’ll first show up, we’ll be sure to let you know.
