In an alternate universe somewhere, audiences have already laid eyes on one of the MCU’s hottest releases: Inhumans.

Indeed, when Marvel first announced their slate of 2018 and 2019 films, Inhumans was given a November 2nd, 2018 slot. But as we all know, those plans never came to be and what we eventually got was a TV series on ABC which was, perhaps, the only genuine disaster in the MCU. And boy, what a disaster it was.

Cancelled after just one season and failing to impress critics and fans alike, it was a failure in every sense of the word. It’s still unclear exactly what went wrong, but there was a general feeling at the time that Marvel Studios quickly saw that the show was going nowhere, but had a bit too much on their plate to worry about it. Whether that’s true or not, it seems Kevin Feige and co. still have hope for the characters, as they now plan to reboot them in the MCU.

Sources close to We Got This Covered have confirmed that an Inhumans reboot is currently being discussed. At this point, it’s unclear what form it could take, but there’s the possibility it’ll end up being a Phase 5 movie. Failing that, it’ll appear as a TV series on Disney Plus. Though it should be noted that no matter which option they go with, the cast won’t be the same as the ABC show. What will be the same, however, is the storyline, which will generally follow the same beats as what we saw with the aforementioned ABC effort.

While Marvel fans didn’t exactly take to the likes of Ansel Mount as the silent superhero king or Serinda Swann as his super-haired queen, Black Bolt, Medusa and the rest of the Inhumans have an exciting history in the comic books and are really due for some sort of redemption on screen. As such, we’re excited to hear that Feige still has plans for them and once we find out where exactly they’ll land, we’ll be sure to let you know.
