Marvel “Secret Shoot” Reunites Three Leading Stars From Spider-Man: Homecoming, But For What?

Spider-Man: Homecoming's Tom Holland, Jon Favreau, and Robert Downey Jr. have shared photos from a recent (and purportedly "secret") Marvel shoot.

Well, here’s a welcome surprise straight out of left field. This past weekend, Tom Holland, Jon Favreau, and Robert Downey Jr. came together for a Marvel shoot – and posted a series of photos online to prove it.

Perhaps as a means of celebrating National Superhero Day, the three Spider-Man: Homecoming actors posed for a “secret shoot,” fuelling rumors that the Powers That Be over at Marvel have ordered some form of standalone promo for Jon Watts’ reboot – similar to those featuring Thor and his exceptionally average roommate, Darryl, perhaps? There’s every chance that Marvel has simply ordered some last-minute reshoots in anticipation of the impending July release date, but when you consider the effortless chemistry between Holland and Robert Downey Jr., it would almost be a shame if the studio didn’t launch some form of short film to bridge the gap between Civil War and Homecoming.

Remember the Marvel One-Shots? Those little, bite-sized pieces of fan service that helped flesh out the world of the MCU in between each new installment of Phase One? It’s certainly possible that Tom Holland, Jon Favreau, and Robert Downey Jr. reconvened to film a short addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but with more than two months still left to go between now and release, let the speculation commence.

Armed with a sleek, cutting-edge suit – a gift from Tony Stark – Tom Holland will have the chance to stage his standalone debut once Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theaters on July 7th. It may be the sixth Spidey movie in almost two decades, but according to the film’s producer Eric Hauserman, it’s considered more to be the first Peter Parker film, as evidenced by the high school setting.
