After much speculation, Matt Damon has confirmed that he won’t be reprising his role as Jason Bourne in The Bourne Legacy. Of the action movie, which stars Jeremy Renner and is scheduled to hit theaters on August 3rd, Damon said he has no knowledge about the production. He added:
No, no (you won’t see me in the background of the new one). He’s got a whole other thing that they’re doing and I wish them well and (director) Tony (Gilroy’s) really smart. I’m sure they’re going to be great.
However, Damon isn’t shutting down the idea of reuniting with Paul Greengrass for another Bourne film, if the conditions are right and a suitable agreement is reached.
“All I know is that it doesn’t preclude Paul [Greengrass] and me from doing another one of ours,” Damon said.
What do you think of Damon’s decision to not return to reprise his title role in The Bourne Legacy? Will the film be as successful with Renner in his place, and Gilroy stepping in for Greengrass?
