Avengers: Infinity War featured more superheroes than any film before it and miraculously, it was able to give many of them their own arcs and everybody else at least a few chances to shine. Still, some fans complained that it didn’t give a couple of the old favorites enough to do. We should know by now though to trust in Marvel, as Avengers: Endgame has considerably shortened the cast list and put a much greater focus on the original team.

Yes, following Thanos’ deadly Snap, many of the second generation of heroes in the MCU are gone, leaving just the first six members of Nick Fury’s Avengers initiative. Well, plus War Machine, Ant-Man, Rocket, Nebula and Captain Marvel. As we said above, though, most of Endgame is about the original six, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for a few familiar faces from past MCU films to return, too.

In fact, thanks to the time travel plot, we get to see a whole bunch of characters we never thought we’d see again, either because they died or were written out of the franchise. But as Marvel takes us on a trip down memory lane, we’re able spend a bit more time with folks who likely won’t be in the MCU anymore following Endgame.

Below, you’ll find a list all the old characters that the film brought back. Or at least, almost all of them, as we left off just a couple since we didn’t want to spoil all the surprises.

  • Howard Stark
  • The Ancient One
  • Peggy Carter
  • Brock Rumlow
  • Alexander Pierce
  • Frigga
  • Dr. Jane Foster
  • Laura Barton
  • Jack Rollins
  • Harley Keener
  • Jarvis

So, there you have it. Lots of familiar faces to look out for and again, we’ve only included those old MCU characters who we never expected to see again, as Avengers: Endgame features many other heroes and villains aside from just the folks listed above, though most of them we figured would be showing up once more in some form or another.

But tell us, which surprise appearance did you enjoy most? As always, sound off down below with your thoughts.
