Another day, another theory.

In recent years, Marvel fans have pointed out a number of problems with the studio’s recent releases. Sure, the problems with the franchise’s CGI have been widely discussed by now, as has the theory regarding the audience’s fatigue with constant MCU content being pumped out every few months. One thing that hasn’t been touched upon until now, though, is the title choices for some of Marvel Studios’ films, particularly those in the Multiverse Saga.

On a now-deleted Reddit post, a fan exposed what perhaps many folks around the globe might be thinking about this Saga’s works, implying that their titles might have some relation with the franchise’s declining success. This is a curious perspective and entirely worth considering, especially when it comes to movies such as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thunderbolts, and The Marvels. In this viewer’s opinion, these titles are incredibly difficult to translate into some languages, which might lead to a good portion of the public missing out on the viewing experience.

Not everyone agrees with this take, however. In fairness, it’s unlikely that religious MCU enthusiasts would refuse to watch a movie simply because of its title. As for the general public, one can argue that the name of well-established superheroes like Dr. Strange and Ant-Man being in the title is enough to gather attention.

Another fan chimes in with a much more prevalent opinion among the MCU fandom, which places the blame for the franchise’s decline on the films’ scripts instead of their titles.

Fans will have to see how The Marvels and Thunderbolts will fare at the box office to determine whether or not this theory holds up. The Marvels premieres in theaters on Nov. 10.
