Don’t get us wrong, it’s nice to have more of Olsen’s heroine and all, but it’s led fans to wonder: what does that mean for Christine Palmer? Rachel McAdams played Christine in 2016’s Doctor Strangea compassionate doctor and old girlfriend of Strange’s. Despite the caliber of actress portraying the part, though it’s fair to say that Christine was pretty underwritten. So, it’s possible that the filmmakers will write her out completely for Multiverse. MCU fans really hope not, though, as a thread on the Marvel Studios subreddit proves.

User TeaTreeVelvet shared a snap of McAdams as Dr. Palmer and captioned it: “Really want to see more of this character. Hopefully she will be in the Multiverse of Madness.”

A lot of fans responded to the post in agreement, with TheAviator077 saying they want to see the dynamic between Christine and Strange explored some more in the follow-up:

“I hope so too, she had an interesting dynamic with Strange, being the only person who really cared about him when he was being a huge jerk.”

Vawqer is also a fan of McAdams and thinks the actress landed some of the best dialogue in the first movie.

“Rachel McAdams is such a good actress. She delivered some of the best lines in the original Doctor Strange.”

Morphballganon, meanwhile, thinks the sequel’s writer – that’s Jon Spaihts, in case you’re wondering – would be dumb not to feature her in the script.

“Writer would be a fool to not include her.”

This could go either way, really. Fans think that Clea might be appearing in Ds2, and seeing as she’s a more prominent love interest for Strange in the comics, that could mean there’s no room for Christine. On the other hand, just because Scarlet Witch and possibly Clea will be involved, too, that doesn’t mean Christine has to go. The more awesome female characters the merrier, right? Hey, she could even take a leaf out of Jane Foster in Thor: Love and Thunder‘s book and get some powers of her own.

In any case, we’ll find out if McAdams is due for a return when Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on May 7th, 2021.
