In the video game industry, this past weekend was all about one publisher: Blizzard Entertainment. The studio’s annual BlizzCon convention brought with it a hoard of new announcements for titles like StarCraft 2 and Hearthstone, but the biggest name at the event was undoubtedly Duncan Jones’ Warcraft — the director’s big-screen take on Bilzzard’s long-running MMO.
And so, hot on the heels of the recent promo posters, a fresh batch of stills have made their way online that showcase the film’s leading cast members. Trumpeting the likes of Dominic Cooper (Captain America: The First Avenger) and Ben Foster, the images also point to which roles those stars will be playing come 2016.
Alas, for those who aren’t well versed in the lore of Azeroth, the monikers will be essentially meaningless, but Jones’ adaptation will still orbit around the aeon-old battle between The Alliance and The Horde, and we understand that many of the characters will fall on either side of the conflict. Joining Cooper and Foster for the blockbuster are Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton and Pacific Rim‘s Robert Kazinsky.
Duncan Jones and Legendary Pictures will beckon players and moviegoers alike to Azeroth when Warcraft hits theaters on March 11th, 2016. Until then, you can feast your eyes on the film’s cast members in the gallery below.
Legendary Pictures’ WARCRAFT, a 3D epic adventure of world-colliding conflict based upon Blizzard Entertainment’s globally-renowned universe, is directed by Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) and is written by Charles Leavitt and rewritten by Duncan Jones.
