Late last year we brought you news that head scrambling, genius writer Charlie Kaufman and his old partner the visually crafty Spike Jonze would re-team for a new project, which we so far had no details on. Well now this appears to be moving forward. My new favourite person, Megan Ellison of Annapurna Productions, a woman of very good taste, is in negotiations to finance the film.

Deadline broke the news and they say the script is a satire about world leaders who rally together in an attempt to predict the world’s next major events like world wars and oil crises. Ellison is making her mark amongst Hollywood by opting to finance arthouse productions with limited appeal. She is reportedly after the rights to finance Paul Thomas Anderson’s adaptation of Inherent Vice, as well as his very controversial quasi Scientology parable tentatively titled The Master.

She also has deals with John Hillcoat’s The Wettest County in the World, Andrew Dominik’s Cogan’s Trade as well as moving forward on one of the many Julian Assange projects floating around. She really made a splash this year by having her name on True Grit, the multi Oscar nominated Coen Bros Western. There are also rumours that Charlie Kaufman is looking to set up his Frank or Francis project with Ellison and Annapurna Productions. We’ll keep you posted.
