Megan Fox Wants To Play Kitana In James Wan’s Mortal Kombat Reboot

Although he was attached as a producer last year, all has been quiet on the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot from James Wan. That's not terribly surprising, as the director is currently in high demand and has his plate very full at the moment. Still, it'd be nice to hear some kind of update on the project, which is being written by David Callaham and Oren Uziel and being called a "departure from the mythology."

Although he was attached as a producer last year, all has been quiet on the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot from James Wan. That’s not terribly surprising, as the director is currently in high demand and has his plate very full at the moment. Still, it’d be nice to hear some kind of update on the project, which is being written by David Callaham and Oren Uziel and being called a “departure from the mythology.”

Of course, no one has been cast in the film just yet, but that hasn’t stopped various actors and actresses from expressing their interest in playing certain characters from the iconic franchise. The latest person to do so is Megan Fox, who spoke about her desire to play Kitana while doing an interview to promote her new film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.

When asked if she had any villains in mind that she’d like to play one day, the actress said the following:

“I thought of Kitana from Mortal Kombat if they ever make that movie again. I’ve always loved her fans and the blades, um, but that’s the only one I could think of.”

For those unfamiliar with the franchise, Kitana is a 10,000 year old princess who has the appearance of a young woman. Her Wiki page describes her as such:

“Throughout the years, she rose to great importance; first as the loyal stepdaughter of Shao Kahn, then as his enemy, tearing herself away from his grasp and freeing her home realm of Edenia. She also led an army into Outworld to combat any chance of Shao Kahn rising to power again.

She shared a subtle love interest with Mortal Kombat champion Liu Kang, even after he was murdered by the Deadly Alliance. Though she was loyal to Shao Kahn for most of her life, she aligned herself with the side of good upon learning the truth about her past and her true father, the late King Jerrod.”

Fox’s desire to play the character is just that, a desire. Casting for the film is obviously a long way off and who knows if the actress will end up being considered for the part when the time comes, or if she’ll even still want to play Kitana by the time project heads into production.

Hopefully we’ll hear more about the Mortal Kombat reboot sooner rather than later, but until we do, tell us, would you like to see Megan Fox play Kitana in the movie?
