Mel Gibson Under Fire After Controversial Gesture Directed At Trump

In news that shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to anyone, it seems that celebrity racist Mel Gibson is a big fan of former President Donald Trump. The actor was spotted in the crowd at UFC 264 in Las Vegas as Trump entered the arena, with eagle-eyed Twitter users spotting him in a video appearing to salute the former Commander-in-Chief.

Trump is currently still engaged in efforts to undermine the legitimacy of the 2020 US Presidential Election, so Gibson publically saluting him could be a hint that he also buys into right-wing conspiracy theories and still considers him the legitimate President.

That would of course be totally in character for Gibson, who when stopped by a traffic cop while drunk driving said: “F**king Jews… the Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world. Are you a Jew?” He’s since attempted some career rehabilitation, though this was somewhat derailed by a subsequent incident in which he told the mother of his child that “you look like a fucking pig in heat, and if you get raped by a pack of n****rs, it will be your fault.”

Despite all this, Gibson’s career rumbles on, with 2016’s Hacksaw Ridge getting him an Academy Award nomination for Best Director. He’s next directing the long-in-development The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection and a remake of The Wild Bunch, as well as a plethora of upcoming supporting roles in various movies.

This all goes to show that “cancel culture” isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. I mean, if a guy ranting about Jews taking over the world, reportedly calling Jewish people “oven-dodgers”, and subjecting his wife to the worst kind of misogynist abuse doesn’t tank someone’s career, saluting Donald Trump is merely a tiny pebble tossed into an ocean of bad vibes.

In fact, the culture war battleground is so starkly drawn that I suspect Mel Gibson coming out as a full-on QAnon MAGA chud would only benefit his career, as suddenly going to see his movies would be just one more way to stick it to the libs.
