Michael Bay’s army of Transformers has officially descended on the primordial hills of Skye, Scotland, opening up a whole new can of story rumors pertaining to Paramount’s 2017 blockbuster, Transformers: The Last Knight.
First spotted by the BBC, it’s understood the studio’s crew will return to beauty spots across the Isle of Sky tomorrow for additional filming as Bay’s sequel begins to take shape. But we know Paramount’s team haven’t uprooted for the northerly tip of the United Kingdom for a spot of sight-seeing. So, just what does Michael Bay have up his sleeve?
Potential spoilers to follow!
[zerg]Lending credence to early chatter that The Last Knight would have ties to the famous legend of King Arthur, it appears that the fifth installment in Paramount’s juggernaut will uphold tradition and implement a little alternate history into its story – think the spoof space mission in Dark of the Moon or how the Hoover Dam filtered into the original Transformers.
This time around, Michael Bay will be whisking Optimus Prime back to the world of Cybertron, who arrives to find his home planet in ruin. In a last-ditch attempt to rejuvenate the ravaged world, our fearless leader will be on the hunt for a mysterious artefact in Transformers: The Last Knight, one which imbued Merlin with his powers all those years ago. Unconfirmed, of course, but it would go some way to explaining the presence of horses and period garb in the BBC’s set snaps.
Pegged to land on June 23, 2017, Transformers: The Last Knight welcomes the return of Mark Wahlberg following his stint in Age of Extinction, headlining a cast of old and new faces that includes Laura Haddock, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Anthony Hopkins, and Peter Cullen.
