Michael Douglas Confirmed For Ant-Man And The Wasp

An actor doesn't merely sign up for one Marvel movie. They sign onto two, three, four, 13 films. Once you sign that contract, you're usually involved for life — unless, of course, you badmouth them. But Michael Douglas isn't one to speak ill of Marvel. The Academy Award-winner made a noteworthy supporting turn in 2015's Ant-Man, and that's not the last time we'll see him in this cinematic universe. He rejoins Marvel as Hank Pym in Ant-Man and the Wasp.

An actor doesn’t merely sign up for one Marvel movie. They sign on for two, three, four or 13 films. Once you sign that contract, you’re usually involved for life — unless, of course, you badmouth them. Then you’re dead. But Michael Douglas isn’t one to speak ill of Marvel. The Academy Award-winner made a noteworthy supporting turn in 2015’s Ant-Man, and that’s not the last time we’ll see him in this cinematic universe, as he’ll reprise his role as Hank Pym in Ant-Man and the Wasp.

This new casting report is notable since it was unclear whether Douglas would return or not. You see, Douglas is the rare actor to sign a single-picture Marvel contract. One with his level of notoriety, experience and clout has those privileges, it seems. Nevertheless, Peyton Reed treated him well, and he’s ready to work with him again for the director’s forthcoming superhero sequel, which will reunite him with Paul Rudd (of course), Evangeline Lilly (of course) and Michael Pena.

The announcement came from Douglas himself, as he unveiled the news on his Facebook page.

With production set to begin soon, we should get some more casting news in the coming weeks. Douglas’ return is certainly encouraging though, if not necessarily shocking. He seemed to have fun with the first one and it’s nice to know that he’s in good company with the folks over at Marvel.

Tell us, are you looking forward to seeing Michael Douglas return to the MCU for Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man and the Wasp? Sound off in the usual place and let us know!
