Ant-Man featured a fun group of supporting characters, but aside from lead stars Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas and Evangeline Lilly, we don’t currently know who will be returning for the upcoming sequel, Ant-Man And The Wasp. The movie is expected to revolve around the hunt for original Wasp, Janet Van Dyne, in the Quantum Realm though, which obviously sheds some doubt on whether or not Scott Lang will need to team-up with the band of crooks from the first instalment.
Something which seems to emphasize the fact that the group won’t return alongside their leader is that Michael Pena has yet to hear anything from Marvel Studios about a potential return. It’s still very early days, of course, but Ant-Man And The Wasp already has a working title, so it can’t be too far off from shooting. Either way, here’s what he had to share:
“No, no, I haven’t gotten the phone call yet. I don’t know if I’m gonna get the phone call. Who knows?”
It’s also worth noting that the events of Captain America: Civil War played a huge role in changing Scott Lang’s status quo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s now a fugitive again after teaming up with Steve Rogers and company to oppose the Sokovia Accords, so his old friends may be better off keeping their distance.
We’ll just have to see how things pan out with Ant-Man And The Wasp, but it would certainly be a shame to bid farewell to Ant-Man‘s stellar supporting cast. Pena, in particular, was a highlight, so here’s hoping Marvel and director Peyton Reed manage to find a place for him in the highly anticipated sequel.
