Back in June, Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie was cast in Star Wars: Episode VII, and now we’re hearing that she won’t be the only one from Westeros to travel to a galaxy far, far away. According to BBC News, Miltos Yerolemou has landed a role in the hotly anticipated blockbuster as well.
Yerolemou is known for playing expert swordsman Syrio Forel on the first season of Game of Thrones, who trains young Arya Stark. While one could easily see him taking those skills to the next level by wielding a lightsaber, BBC News cautions that he’s landed a small role in the film. That’s all we know about it, however, so fan speculation is bound to run wild with this one.
The actor joins an expanding and mysterious cast of newcomers to the Star Wars franchise, including Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years A Slave), John Boyega (Attack the Block), Daisy Ridley (Silent Witness), Andy Serkis (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Domhnall Gleeson (About Time), Adam Driver (Girls), Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis), Christina Chong (24: Live Another Day) and Max von Sydow (The Exorcist). They join returning Star Wars alumni Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Kenny Baker, Peter Mayhew and Anthony Daniels.
Directed by J.J. Abrams, Star Wars: Episode VII hits theaters in a galaxy near you on December 18th, 2015. Details about the blockbuster are still being kept tightly under lock and key, but with production now back under way after Harrison Ford’s recovery from a leg injury, we should start seeing more news (and inevitable crazy rumors) hit the web in the coming weeks.
