Renown Hollywood daredevil Tom Cruise is caught doing what he does best in the latest round of set snaps for Mission: Impossible 6.

First spotted by UK tabloid The Daily Mail (via Screen Rant), filming on Paramount and Christopher McQuarrie’s action sequel is currently taking place in rural England, where Cruise and a squad of stuntmen are seen here performing a parachute jump. Perhaps this is part of the stunt that Tom Cruise has spent the past year training for? It’s far too soon to tell, but given the actor’s track record, we’re inclined to believe the airborne sequence glimpsed in the gallery above is not Mission: Impossible 6‘s main event, as it were.

After all, within the M:I franchise alone, Tom Cruise has scaled Dubai’s skyscraping Burj Khalifa and clung onto the exterior door of an A380 mid-flight, so chances are McQuarrie and his creative team have rustled up something that will really bring the ‘wow factor’ when Mission: Impossible 6 lights up theaters next summer.

If nothing else, this vertiginous stunt serves as a timely primer for Top Gun 2officially titled Top Gun: Maverick – which is expected to bring Tom Cruise’s cocksure fighter pilot back into the fold in 2019. Expect production on that one to commence later this year.

Getting back to Mission: Impossible 6, though, there are precious few story details currently available for Ethan Hunt’s next globe-trotting mission. What we do know is that key members of the IMF are back on board – namely Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson), Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames), and Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg) – while series newcomer Henry Cavill and his dashing mustache have kicked up quite the fuss in recent weeks due to the sequel’s scheduling clash with Justice League.

Also starring Sean Harris, Alec Baldwin and Michelle Monaghan as Julia Meade, Mission: Impossible 6 is expected to storm into theaters on July 27th, 2018.
