The odd and colourful journey of bringing Warner Bros.’ Lego: The Piece of Resistance (i.e. “that Lego movie”) to the big screen continues to build, as it’s been announced that both Morgan Freeman and Elizabeth Banks will lend their pipes to the 3D animated film.

This comes on the heels of the late-June announcement that not only would Superman and Batman make an appearance but that they would no less be voiced by Channing Tatum and Will Arnett, respectively.

Deadline reports that Freeman will portray a character known only as Vitruvius, a gig that will coincidently mark his fourth return to a film featuring The Dark Knight. Banks’ exact role in the project is a mystery and we currently don’t have any details on her part..

Lego: The Piece of Resistance will come from directing duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller who found huge successful with their satirical update of 21 Jump Street this spring. This particular project has the ability to go wrong at so many turns, but in the hands of this fun team, it has a good a chance at any of being a subversive lark that won’t take itself too seriously.

The plot of Lego: The Piece of Resistance is described as the following:

“An ordinary Lego mini-figure, mistakenly thought to be the extraordinary Master Builder, is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil Lego tyrant from gluing the universe together.”

Warner Bros. has set a release date for February 28, 2014. We’ll keep you posted when we hear more.
