Mortdecai Adds Jeff Goldblum, Aubrey Plaza And Oliver Platt

Every once in a while there's a cast with so much star-power that it's hard to believe the film is going to be anything other than great. Every once in a while there’s a cast with so much star-power that it’s hard to believe the film is going to be anything other than great. However, it’s a rare occasion when that caliber of cast is getting together for something dubbed an “action-comedy”, as is the case with the Johnny Depp-starring Mortdecai. Today, the film added three more quality names to its cast in Jeff Goldblum, Aubrey Plaza and Oliver Platt, though we have no details on which roles they’ll be taking on.

In addition to the four mentioned above, the film’s cast already boasts Gwyneth Paltrow, Ewan McGregor, Olivia Munn and Paul Bettany, making it one of the most exciting ensembles on the horizon. Today’s additions come at an interesting time considering the film has already wrapped production in London and is now moving to LA to continue shooting.

With a cast as impressive as this, there’s no reason that the movie shouldn’t be a huge success. As an added bonus, the story is fairly intriguing, too. Based on Kyril Bonfiglioli’s The Great Mortdecai Moustache Mystery, Depp stars as an “art dealer/rogue who somehow gets mixed up in a plot involving Nazi gold, the Russians, the MI5 and more.” Sounds pretty neat, right?

Goldblum is best known for his roles in Jurassic Park, Independence Day and The Fly, but he’ll also be seen in Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel. Most audience members will know Plaza from her role as April on Parks And Recreation, but she has also recently starred in The To-Do List and Safety Not Guaranteed. As for Platt, he has five films coming out in 2014, including Jon Favreau’s Chef and Michael Cuesta’s Kill the Messenger.
