Murder and mayhem prevail in new ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ trailer

The trailer for Scorsese's latest film is here, and it's looking like a worthy follow-up to his existing body of work.

When it comes to crafting films that hoist up an ugly mirror to the face of humanity, few can do it quite as well as Martin Scorsese. Indeed, from Goodfellas to The Wolf of Wall Street to The Irishman, the legendary filmmaker has never shied away from delving into humanity’s darkest corners; in fact, he relishes the opportunity.

Killers of the Flower Moon will be no different, insofar as Scorsese’s latest film is gearing up to dive into one of the most heinous stories he’s ever tackled, and judging by this latest trailer, it looks like Scorsese and his pack of loyal players will be cranking the grit up to 11, as should be expected for a film about the Reign of Terror.

The film tells the story of the Osage, a Native American tribe who discovered a wealth of oil on their land in the early 1920s, and who subsequently became the targets of white cattlemen who were willing to commit any number of atrocities to swipe the “black gold” from the Osage tribe. When members of the tribe begin to turn up murdered, former Texas Ranger Tom White is called into the fray to investigate.

Scorsese regulars Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro take up leading roles as culprits Ernest Burkhart and William Hale, respectively, while Lily Gladstone, Jesse Plemons, and Brendan Fraser also star.

Killers of the Flower Moon will make its bow in select theaters on Oct. 6 before a wider release on Oct. 20, after which it will land on its permanent home of Apple TV Plus at an unspecified date.
