The Mutants Will Show Up In The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Post-Credit Scene

Despite the fact that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is being distributed by Sony and X-Men: Days of Future Past belongs to 20th Century Fox, the two studios will be working together for some cross-promotion. According the audiences across the pond, where Spidey's second outing is opening today, there will be a post-credit scene in the film that involves some of the characters from Bryan Singer's upcoming X-Men sequel.

Despite the fact that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is being distributed by Sony and X-Men: Days of Future Past belongs to 20th Century Fox, the two studios will be working together for some cross-promotion. According the audiences across the pond, where Spidey’s second outing is opening today, there will be a post-credit scene in the film that involves some of the characters from Bryan Singer’s upcoming X-Men sequel.

Now, before you get all excited, this does not mean that Spider-Man is teaming up with the X-Men. Not at all. The scene in question will be completely unrelated and will not tie-in with the Spidey universe in any way. Empire has described the footage as follows:

The scene featured sees Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique, Lucas Till’s Havok and Evan Jonigkeit’s Toad taking on William Stryker (Josh Helman) and his military men. Without wishing to spoil anything, let’s just say that Mystique once again demonstrates her formidable fighting skills in the brief segment.

You might be asking yourself what the point of including an unrelated X-Men: Days of Future Past scene at the end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is, and I don’t blame you. It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. I mean, we have seen it done before (The Dark Knight Rises prologue in front of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol), and both Spidey and X-Men are Marvel properties, but still, it is a bit odd.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not complaining about this, and I’ll definitely be waiting around until after the credits to see the footage, but I would have much rather seen them use the post-credits scene to tease something from the Spider-Man universe. Perhaps a quick glimpse of Venom, or another future villain?

Regardless, extra footage is still extra footage, and if you plan on checking out The Amazing Spider-Man 2, it would be best to stick around right until the very end.
