Four New Names Mentioned For Harry Osborn In The Amazing Spider-Man 2

The battle for Harry Osborn is on, because who wouldn't want to play Peter Parker's scheming, contemptuous, douchebag friend in Marc Webb's upcoming sequel? James Franco defined the role back in 2002 when Sam Raimi cast him as Osborn in the original Spider-Man movie. And when we say defined, we purely mean that James Franco is the only guy who's had a chance to play the character on the big screen thus far. Which means anyone can define it if they want to. Go on. Define it.

The battle for Harry Osborn is on, because who wouldn’t want to play Peter Parker’s scheming, contemptuous, douchebag friend in Marc Webb‘s upcoming sequel? James Franco defined the role back in 2002 when Sam Raimi cast him as Osborn in the original Spider-Man movie. And when we say defined, we purely mean that James Franco is the only guy who’s had a chance to play the character on the big screen thus far. Which means anyone can define it if they want to. Do you want to? Go on. Define it.

As for the casting of said role in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, we have four new names to throw at you. First there’s Sam Claflin, the upcoming star of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Then we have Eddie Redmayne, who plays Marius in Tom Hooper’s Les Miserables film. There’s also Douglas Booth, star of LOL, and finally Boyd Holbrook, who starred in Milk and will also appear in Stephenie Meyer’s The Host.

Last week we heard that Brady Corbet, Dane DeHaan, and Alden Ehrenreich were being considered for the role, which was then being described as a darker, edgier version of the character we’ve all come to love (?). But now that’s all gone out the window and the studio are apparently looking for somebody with more of an athletic build, presumably so he can flirt with Andrew Garfield’s girls and create some sort of love triangle between all these characters. Watching people bicker is why we go to the movies, you know.

What do you reckon on any of these choices? Let us know in the comments.
