Netflix takes a page out of the wrong playbook by spoiling a massive ‘Thor’ reunion in ‘Extraction 2’

It would have been nice to keep it a surprise.

Spoilers are part and parcel of the blockbuster business, but Netflix gets an easier ride than most when it doesn’t even have to promote the majority of its in-house exclusives too heavily in order to convince subscribers to check them out. However, for whatever reason, the streaming service has still seen fit to ruin a major Extraction 2 surprise weeks ahead of the film’s release.

The opening installment became the platform’s most-watched original movie ever when it exploded into homes around the world in April of 2020, so it’s not as if anybody was desperate for spoilers to be revealed ahead of time when the evidence points to the second outing for Chris Hemsworth’s Tyler Rake doing exactly what its predecessor did.

And yet, Extraction 2 hasn’t jut gone ahead and revealed a Marvel Cinematic Universe reunion between the leading man and longtime co-star Idris Elba, but its only gone and unveiled the full-length clip showcasing his introduction on the TUDUM website. Thanks for that, Netflix, because it’s all over the internet now and can’t be avoided.

There are still 11 days to go until Extraction 2 barrels onto the content library, and is it going to make even the tiniest difference in viewing figures shouting from the rooftops that Idris Elba is in it? Who knows, because the information is out there now, and we all just have to deal with it.

That being said, it’ll be nice to see Heimdall and the Odinson reunited in something that’s hopefully a lot better than Love and Thunder.
