Netflix's Bird Box is taking the world by storm, and some users are even going so far as to call it the most terrifying film ever.

Netflix rarely reveals viewing figures for their shows and films, and while that’s unlikely to change anytime soon, the numbers for their recent hit Bird Box have been too impressive not to share. In fact, in its first week alone, we know that the movie was viewed by a whopping 45 million people.

Yes, it’s become pretty clear that Susanne Bier’s post-apocalyptic thriller has taken the world by storm ever since hitting the streaming service last month, with its gripping story of survival inspiring all sorts of discussion amongst Netflix subscribers. But if there’s one thing that almost everyone agrees on, it’s that Bird Box is a pretty scary ride, with some users even going so far as to call it the most terrifying film ever.

Don’t believe us? Just see below for but a sampling of what folks are saying on social media:

While we’re not sure if it’s fair to call Bird Box the most terrifying movie ever, or even the most terrifying movie of 2018, it certainly is a tense, riveting watch that has some pretty gruesome and disturbing moments. But it’s also a story about survival and doing what it takes to keep yourself alive. Not to mention it ends on a rather hopeful note – unlike the novel on which it’s based.

In any case, it’s clear that Netflix is pretty proud with how things turned out for Bird Box and there’ve already been whispers about a possible sequel. Though the movie had a fairly conclusive ending, there are certainly more than a couple of ways that the story could continue. At the same time, though, you might also argue that it may be best to just leave things as they are.

We’ll have to wait and see what the streaming giant decides, but if you haven’t had the chance to check out one of 2018’s most buzzed about films yet, do yourself a favor and dive right in ASAP. You won’t be disappointed.
