Though the first trailer for Avengers: Endgame only gave us a fleeting glimpse of Thanos as he wanders through the fields on Titan 2, the Mad Titan holds an undeniable presence in the promotion for the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War sequel.
First there was the Endgame poster unveiled last week which showed a big purple ‘A’ disintegrating as though it were just one more victim of this year’s Decimation. And now we have this new logo showing up on various official Marvel social media pages, which exhibits a purple and gold color scheme that inevitably calls to mind the intergalactic conqueror. So while Thanos may be content to finally rest and watch the sun rise on a grateful universe, it’s clear that the superhero saga isn’t done with him quite yet.
While pretty much the whole universe has a grudge against the Infinity War villain after the events of his last movie, there’s still some debate to be had around the exact role that Thanos will play in his next story. Though the most obvious prediction is that he’ll be the main antagonist once more as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes fight to reverse the snap, the ongoing rumors and reports of “new foes” and “an even greater threat” have led to much speculation that the film won’t be a simple case of Avengers vs. Thanos Round 2.
Co-director Joe Russo has certainly helped fuel these theories with his insistence that the stakes of Avengers: Endgame will be 100% higher, but regardless of whether the Mad Titan is still the biggest threat posed to the MCU next year, you can expect to see plenty more of his big purple face on our screens when the film hits theaters on April 26th, 2019.
