Not unlike the Boggart of Harry Potter, or Room 101 from the George Orwell classic 1984, Pennywise is a manifestation of your greatest fear(s), whether it’s spiders, lepers, werewolves or giant, pregnant spiders. And next month, he – or, rather, It – will slither back onto the silver screen once more for It: Chapter Two.

It’s poised to become one of the most successful horror movies in Hollywood history, far exceeding the box office cume of its predecessor – for the record, Chapter One topped out at $700 million worldwide. And to ensure excitement is at a fever-pitch, Warner Bros. and New Line have summoned forth not one, but two new posters for the forthcoming sequel, on which you’ll find Pennywise lurking in the shadows, ready to pounce at any given moment.

The ice-white poster hails from Dolby Cinemas, and sees a close-up of Pennywise and his demonic eye, with the paint (blood?) spilling onto the Losers. Next up is the one-sheet from IMAX, and finds Stephen King’s abomination hiding amongst an army of balloons.

They’re undoubtedly Pennywise’s secret weapon when it comes to luring unsuspecting children into the sewers of Derry, Maine, though we suspect the Destroyer of Dreams – the Eater of Worlds – will have to dream up a new strategy if it’s to fool the adult Losers, who return to their home town once things start to go awry, and it’s abundantly clear that Pennywise was never really dead… just dormant. Who’s ready for round two?

It: Chapter Two opens big on September 6th, and if you’re itching to attend a screening filled with red balloons and spinning bow ties, Alamo Drafthouse has you covered.
